Common Area Phone autodial DID on "Off-Hook"

Our organization currently has a common area phone in the reception area that we would like to have autodial a DID on "off-hook". We are currently using a Polycom CX500 running Lync Phone Edition. From what I have been able to configure so far, I cannot find an option on the device itself. Is there a PowerShell script that we can apply to this CommonAreaPhone object to have autodial on "off-hook" status?

Thanks,
Erik

No sorry, I don't believe there is a way to make a Lync Phone edition Phone auto-dial a number when taken off-hook

Snom phones support this feature with their standard firmware,

http://wiki.snom.com/FAQ/Do_snom_phones_provide_the_%22Hotline_Functionality%22

but I'm not sure if they will with the OCS/Lync firmware. Would be worth checking out, or if I get a chance I will try to test it.

thanks

Hi Erik, Hi Tom,

thanks for this question / hint :)

We just tried (not a long term test and not Q/A approved) it with the OCS Edition firmware and the funtionality is still available like in the standard SIP firmware.

In the webinterface you go to Action URL settings

under: "On offhook:" you enter:

Please use the local-host IP (127.0.0.1), if your webinterface is secured (by a user and password, as recommended) so the phones does not need to authenticate to itself. E.g.:

The number will be normalized according to the OCS/Lync dialplan, like you would dial from the keypad.

A hint: After you saved the setting you will find it listed unter the Settings page of the phone:

Like quite each and every setting on this page can be mass-provisioned, you can provision this settting too.

The "Click here to save..." options on top of the page, allows you to easily creating a kind of "master/template" phone config file, while removing all indivdual settings from the export.

More details on provision / mass deployment can be found here: http://wiki.snom.com/Category:Auto_Provisioning

and especially for the snom OCS edition you will find the Administrator Guide PDF inside your personal menu after your registration and access granted.

Thanks and greeting from Berlin,
Jan

Hi,

I'm trying to do exactly the same on a CX600 running Lync Phone Edition. The phone doesn't seem to be accepting connections on port 443 or 80. Do you know if this functionality is still available?

Thanks,

Pete

It never was available. This can be done with the snom phones, but not the "Lync Phone edition" phones like the polycom cx600 and Aastra phones I'm afriad

Hope that helps, let me know if you need anything more

Dear Eric,

My answer would be a bit late , but I just came across this issue and here is solution on for SNOM Phone,

Login to snom phone https://<ip>

provide username and password ie., <user ext no> and <user pin number>

now go to :

Advance : it would again show you a field with password type "0000"

next go to action url (see pic below) then in the on off hook , provide the information as below

https://5091:78692@192.168.4.51/command.htm?number=5086

where : 5091 is the user ext

78692 is pin

and 192.168.4.51 is the ip address of the phone,

Please Mark as answer if you think this is helpful,
